About the La Porte Democrats

La Porte County Democrats are striving for livable wages, affordable health care, stronger schools, safer communities, and fairer elections. We fight for elected officials that will fight for you.

La Porte County Indiana Democrats

The LaPorte County Democrats believe in a brighter future—one where opportunity knows no bounds, the middle class thrives, and unity triumphs over division. We stand for the fundamental truth that all people are created equal. We honor the dignity of work, the power of unions to uplift families, and the richness that diversity brings to our communities. We value people and planet over profit, and we affirm that women’s rights are human rights—non negotiable and essential to justice. In times of doubt, we choose truth over falsehood, hope over fear, and progress over stagnation. Together, we are building a county where everyone has a fair shot and every voice is heard.

Born and raised in LaPorte County, I’ve been rooted in public service and politics from the very Now, my mission is clear: turn LaPorte CountyBorn and raised in LaPorte County, I’ve been rooted in public service and politics from the very
beginning. I grew up around the courthouse, worked for the county as a young adult, and got a
firsthand look at how decisions made in government shape everyday lives. Though I come from
a Republican family, my journey—through higher education, earning a degree in Political
Science, and building a career in IT across big, diverse cities—opened my eyes and solidified
my values. I proudly became a Democrat in the 1990s, and I’ve never looked back.

Politics isn’t just something I care about—it’s who I am. I’ve worked on campaigns, volunteered
at election time, and stayed in the trenches year after year because I believe in building power
from the ground up. This is personal for me. I’ve seen what happens when our communities are
ignored, and I’m committed to making sure every vote counts and every voice gets heard.

Now, my mission is clear: turn LaPorte County back to purple—and beyond. I’m here to help
elect Democrats who actually show up for working families, for justice, and for progress. All oars
in the water. Let’s get to work.

Greg Coulter

Vice Chair

I’m a seventh-generation LaPorte County resident, raised with the belief that you show up, do the work, and leave things better than you found them. That’s how I approach public service—focused on the basics that make life better: good jobs, strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and a government that actually works.

My background is in community organizing and local government. I direct a community garden that feeds local families, serve on the Michigan City Council, and help lead regional coalitions focused on health and the environment. I’ve worked across sectors, across party lines, and across neighborhoods that too often get left behind.

I didn’t get involved in politics for a title—I got involved because I was tired of seeing the same people make the same decisions while everyday folks struggled to get by. I believe our communities deserve more: more transparency, more accountability, and more leaders who know what it means to work for a living.

Now, as Vice Chair, I’m focused on building a party that reflects the people we serve. That means growing our bench, showing up in every township, and delivering real results. I’m proud to fight for LaPorte County—and I’m just getting started.

Corey Campbell

Treasurer

I am a longtime resident of La Porte County where I reside with my wife Jessica and our two children. We fell in love with the small town where we live, and we knew that it was the perfect place to raise our children. After graduating from Chesterton High School, I joined the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 81 in Valparaiso as an Apprentice. Within two years of graduation, I completed the apprenticeship program which consisted of 432 classroom training hours as well as 4,000 hours of on-the-job training. I knew early on that I was passionate about helping my community. At the age of 18, I signed up as a volunteer fire fighter with the Chesterton Fire Department. I received rigorous training to prepare to be a firefighter, and I completed numerous state certifications while volunteering. Eventually, I made the heart wrenching decision to leave the department due to the long hours required to pursue my career with LIUNA. I performed refractory work as a laborer at the mills along the lakefront here in Northwest Indiana, eventually earning a promotion to foreman.  I was raised amongst the giants in the labor movement; it’s in my blood and who I am. My passion for the labor movement led to my appointment to serve as a LIUNA Local 81 Organizer. I eventually worked my way up to Field Representative and now serve our nearly 1,400 members as their Business Manager. I take great pride in my work in the labor movement, and I am dedicated to fighting for family sustaining wages and benefits. The safety of the nearly 1,400 members of LIUNA Local 81 is my top priority. Our members live here and are often found generously giving back to our community. I serve on the Board of Trustees for the Construction Workers Pension Trust Fund, the Northern Indiana Area Labor Federation Board, and the La Porte, Starke, and Pulaski Building and Construction Trades Council. I’m an Officer for the LIUNA State of Indiana District Council and a delegate to the Northwestern Indiana Building & Construction Trades Council. My desire to give back to my community has never waned and my desire to bring the best economic opportunities to everyone in our community is at the forefront of my mind. I work for the families in our community by serving on the La Porte County Library Board, the LaPorte County Regional Sewer & Water District, and on this Committee. I serve as Deputy Chair for Labor Relations and CD1 Coordination on the Indiana Democratic Party Committee. I bring a unique skill set to my position on this Committee and my mission is to support the candidates that fight for our community.

Debra Dale

Secretary

Debra Dale is new to LaPorte County politics, but she comes well prepared. After leaving her childhood home in Michigan City, Debra became a broadcast journalist in Chicago where the big news was often political. She also reported in Arizona and Florida, each with a unique political landscape. Now she’s retired, back home, and ready to make a difference in LaPorte County by working inside politics instead of just reporting on it.
